Custom built Machines can be purchased from RadicalType and can usually be ready for pickup within 24 hours. Prices Range from $200 to well beyond depending on the hardware you want. Whether you buy the hardware or I purchase it for you the labor cost is $50 for the custom build. Install of any OS is an additional $25 and includes all drivers and necessary software and settings configured. Also you get tech support and questions answered from RadicalType.

Microsoft Windows adds considerably to the cost of a new machine, from $90 and up. It is possible if you have a licensed copy of windows on an old machine you no longer use to reuse the product key or if you have XP Pro you are permitted to use the key on two machines. Just supply me with the key during the build.

Optionally Linux can be installed. Ubuntu Linux is well supported and even sold in various versions by companies like Dell and HP. It saves you money by not only being free but also by being safer and more reliable.

Hardware replacements: Damaged Laptop & Desktop hardware can be replaced far cheaper than purchasing a new machine. With most laptop hardware replaced for under $200 and Desktop hardware replaced for under $150 including labor.

Harddrives range from $50 for 160gig for new drives and used drives slightly less.
Ram / Memory can range from $20 for 1gig sticks. Older ram is slightly more.
DVD/rw drives for Desktops start @ $30
Power Supplies cost anywhere from $20 used to $30 and up new.
Desktop Motherboard replacements can start @ $50 depending on the age of the board. Usually you your cpu / processor and ram can be used on a new board as well as all the other components. If that is not the case you can get a newer faster board, ram and cpu. Giving you a new machine, allowing you to keep your data and saving you quite a bit versus buying a new machine.

Laptop parts are usually more expensive than desktop components and replacing them is more difficult. The price for minor parts is usually $10-$20 more.
Adaptors purchased through RadicalType can cost as low as $50. Just send me the model # and I can give you a price.
Dc Jack replacements, LCD Screens, Motherboards, Optical Drives, Keyboards, etc all can be replaced. Along with RAM upgrades, Hard Drive replacements or Upgrades, troubleshooting and all other services offer can be serviced on laptops.
